Traction-Lok - Final Drive options

This Service is for a complete factory Traction-Loc super 8.8 differential rebuild. This can be purely for repair purposes, or you can use it to change the crown and pinion to one that better suits your driving style.

Ford installed a Traction-Lok differential into the GT models of the S550 Mustang. Compared to an open differential, the Traction-Lok differential provides improved traction and stability by limiting the wheel spin of the wheel with less grip. 

When it comes to the final drive options, you have four choices to suit your driving preferences:

  • 3.31: This final drive ratio is ideal for those who want a higher top speed and relaxed highway cruising. It offers better fuel efficiency, allowing you to enjoy comfortable long-distance drives.
  • 3.55 (standard): The standard final drive ratio balances acceleration and fuel efficiency, making it a good choice for everyday driving scenarios.
  • 3.73: If you seek quicker acceleration and improved low-end torque, the 3.73 final drive ratio is the perfect option. This gear ratio enhances the off-the-line response and delivers a more exciting driving experience.
  • 4.10: This final drive ratio is the ultimate choice for maximum performance and aggressive acceleration. With this ratio, you can unleash the full potential of your Mustang, experiencing rapid acceleration off the line.
