However, we don’t insist on following our staging system, we understand the potential of partnering with manufacturers beyond our knowledge, recognizing the added value and performance that can result.

MAP Essentials Chassis Package
Ford has a nasty habit of supplying the Mustang with poor wheel-alignment from the factory, and as a result, we have seen cars as young as 5000 miles on the clock need new front tyres because of severe inside tyre wear.
This package is designed to address that common issue. We have put it together for those who are not particularly bothered about improved performance but do want their car right. So we supply and install a set of Camber Bolts to give us the adjustment we need. Additionally, we recommend including the Steeda IRS base kit for improved stability on UK roads.

Chassis stage 1

The Mustang, straight from the factory, was designed as a comfortable cruiser; Ford prioritized comfort and succeeded. However, if you want to enhance its cornering capabilities, this step involves eliminating the chassis deflection and creating a better connection between the driver and the road. This is where bracing comes into play. These modifications will significantly improves your car’s overall stability by reinforcing and securing the major chassis components that tend to have substantial deflection.

Chassis Stage 3
With the car now braced up for the corners, this is the part where we account from some straight line and launching capability. Stage 3 focuses on stopping wheel hop under launching or hard acceleration. Eliminating wheel hop means you can ensure there will be no damage caused by the wheels hopping as this is essentially shock, and also makes wheelspin enjoyable and smooth without sounding like you’ve hit 7 potholes.
Polybushes are typically recommended for naturally aspirated power levels.
For forced induction power levels, Delrin bushings are recommended. Nonetheless, our recommendation extends to those planning to add a supercharger to their setup.

Chassis Stage 4
With the wheel hop now kept at bay, and you can feel what the car is actually doing in the corners, we can now look to further improve the cornering ability. The Mustang is a pretty big car compared to most modern sports cars, this means more weight, and more weight means more body roll. Upgrading the anti-roll bars means when you’re mid corner, the car feels as flat as it did on the straight before the corner. This gives the driver more confidence, feedback and higher cornering speeds.
The hardcore package offers the ability to achieve zero pre-load on your suspension by utilizing adjustable drop links.

Excessive bump steer undermines control by letting the suspension dictate direction. Steeda’s Bump Steer Kit adjusts precisely, minimizing this issue for improved handling. Paired with Steeda’s front control arms, they are vital for lowered S550 Mustangs. Correcting the roll centre enhances steering response, reduces body roll, and amplifies grip.

BMR X MAP Chassis Stages
BMR suspension are no stranger to muscle car suspension upgrades. BMR have an entire range of suspension and chassis components available to the S550 Mustang, but their experience comes from taming the suspension of almost all GM’s range of Muscle cars over the years. This means you can trust in BMR to get it right with your S550 pre-facelift Mustang.
