Richard Hammond’s Ford Ranger Raptor Gets Our 530bhp Stage 2 Treatment

Top Gear and The Grand Tour presenter Richard Hammond has had his Ford Ranger Raptor built up with a full suite of performance upgrades — and the power side of that build came from us.

Hammond documented the modifications on his DriveTribe channel, showing off a Raptor fitted with new front light bars, a PWR intercooler, a larger cold-air intake, OZ Racing wheels, and a fresh exhaust system. When he finally got to drive it, the twin-turbo 3.0L EcoBoost V6 was making 530bhp — over 100bhp more than it left the factory with — while still maintaining full towing capability. You can watch the reveal on his channel below.

That power figure isn’t a coincidence. It’s exactly what our Ranger Raptor 3.0L EcoBoost Stage 2 Package is built to deliver, and it’s the same package we fitted here at our workshop in Batley, West Yorkshire.

What’s In Our Stage 2 Package

The Ranger Raptor’s 3.0L EcoBoost V6 has plenty left in it once you move past the factory ECU and TCU calibration — but to get there safely and reliably, the supporting hardware has to go on first. Our Stage 2 package includes:

  • Upgraded intercooler — for consistently cooler intake charge temperatures under sustained load
  • Upgraded cold air intake — more air in, less restriction
  • High-flow downpipes with sports cats — freeing up the exhaust side to match the extra airflow
  • Bespoke ECU & TCU calibration on 99RON fuel — tuned in-house on our Dyno Dynamics rolling road, not an off-the-shelf map

The result is 530bhp and 620 lb-ft of torque, sharper throttle response, and gear shift points recalibrated to handle the extra torque smoothly — all while keeping the Raptor’s reliability and everyday drivability intact.

Why the Hardware Matters

It’s tempting to think a Stage 2 tune is “just” a software flash. On a twin-turbo platform like the 3.0L EcoBoost, pushing meaningfully past factory power without addressing airflow and cooling first is how you end up with heat soak, inconsistent power delivery, or components working harder than they’re designed to. That’s why our Stage 2 package is sold as software-and-hardware together — the calibration is built around what the supporting parts can actually flow, not the other way round.

Built and Tuned In-House

Every Stage 2 build goes through our workshop and onto our in-house Dyno Dynamics rolling road before it goes back out the door. It’s the same process whether the Raptor in the bay belongs to a first-time customer or a familiar face off the telly — fit the hardware, calibrate on the dyno, verify the numbers, hand it back.

If you’re running a Ranger Raptor and want the same 530bhp Stage 2 treatment, get in touch with the team or head straight to the Stage 2 package page to see pricing and options.

FAQs

How much power does the Stage 2 package add? Around 200+ bhp over stock, taking the 3.0L EcoBoost V6 to 530bhp and 620 lb-ft of torque.

Do I need hardware upgrades, or can I just have the software? We offer both, but hardware (intercooler, intake, downpipes) is what allows the ECU/TCU calibration to safely deliver the full 530bhp figure. Software-only is available for those wanting a more modest, reversible step.

Is it road legal and reliable for daily driving? Yes — the package is calibrated to maintain drivability, towing capability and reliability, not just peak power.

Where is the work carried out? At our workshop in Batley, West Yorkshire, with every build finished on our in-house Dyno Dynamics rolling road.

What our customers say...

MAP have done a full remit of work on my car, and everything was mega professional to say I'm happy with the car now would be dumbing it down. I'm over the moon with it, it's the first time getting in the car after their work, and it's a total game changer drives exactly as it should do and how I wanted it to.

Outstanding from start to finish! Ben and the team are so helpful, they offer the best advice, not profit-driven advice, which is refreshing. The exhaust upgrade is beyond what I expected. Thanks, Ben & the team. See you soon for the pulley change and tune!!!
