Description
Whipple Gen 5x 3.0L Stage 2 Supercharger Kit — Mustang GT (2018–2023)
Whipple’s Stage 2 kit is the evolution of the record-breaking S550 supercharger system already regarded as the most potent and sophisticated on the market — and this one pushes further still. Built around the all-new Generation 5x 3.0L front-feed twin-screw supercharger, this kit delivers 825 flywheel horsepower and 655 lb-ft of torque on 93 octane in US-spec applications, all while remaining 50-state emissions legal (EO D231-69).
Important note for UK/EU-spec Mustangs
The quoted 825HP figure is achieved on US-spec cars, which run less restrictive factory exhaust manifolds than UK/EU-spec Mustangs. To unlock this kit’s full potential on a UK or EU car, long tube headers are required to remove the additional exhaust restriction built into the factory UK/EU manifolds. Without this upgrade, UK/EU cars will still see a very substantial power increase, but won’t reach the same peak figures achieved on US-spec vehicles. Speak to our team about pairing this kit with a suitable long tube header setup to get the most out of your build.
A genuinely re-engineered supercharger, not a bored-out predecessor
The Gen 5x isn’t a tweaked version of Whipple’s earlier units — it’s a ground-up redesign. New bearings, gears, rotors, and housing give it higher efficiency across the entire rev range, while a novel 3×4 rotor combination, 285-degree helix angle, redesigned bell mouth inlet, and optimised discharge port work together for better airflow and higher RPM capacity than the outgoing 2.65L roots-type units it replaces. Being 13% larger than a 2.65L roots-type unit, it draws less power to spin and runs cooler discharge temperatures — meaning more of the power it makes actually reaches the rear wheels.
Cooling that outperforms Whipple’s own Cobra Jet system
This kit features an all-new patented dual-core, dual-pass intercooler — larger even than the intercooler used on the record-setting S550 systems and Ford’s own Cobra Jet cars. Paired with an oversized heat exchanger (150% more volume than competing systems), a high-flow intercooler pump, and a large air-to-water bar-plate design, this cooling package is built to hold lower boost temperatures under sustained hard driving, allowing more boost and timing to be safely run on pump fuel.
Precision calibration and real-world usability
Whipple’s engineers developed a bespoke PCM calibration protocol drawing on decades of OEM and race data, precisely managing fuel delivery, spark timing, knock detection, torque management, and throttle response. The kit includes the HP Tuner RTD flash tool, giving you direct control and update flexibility rather than relying on a third party for every tune revision.

FAQ Section
How much power does this kit produce?
825 flywheel horsepower and 655 lb-ft of torque on 93 octane fuel, under optimal conditions — this figure is achieved on US-spec vehicles. UK/EU-spec cars require long-tube headers to reach equivalent power due to the more restrictive factory exhaust manifolds fitted to UK/EU Mustangs.
Why do UK/EU Mustangs need long-tube headers with this kit?
UK/EU-spec Mustangs are fitted with more restrictive factory exhaust manifolds than US-spec cars, for emissions and regulatory reasons. This restriction limits exhaust flow and holds back the power this supercharger kit can produce. Fitting long tube headers removes that restriction, allowing UK/EU cars to make full use of the kit’s potential.
Will I still see a significant power increase without long-tube headers on a UK/EU car?
Yes — you’ll still see a very substantial increase over stock. However, to reach power figures comparable to the quoted US-spec numbers, long tube headers are required to remove the additional exhaust restriction on UK/EU cars.
Is this kit emissions-legal?
Yes, it’s 50-State legal in the US under EO D231-69.
Do I need to modify my Mustang’s bonnet, engine block, or K-brace to fit this kit?
No. The kit fits under the factory bonnet with no cutting or grinding required on the engine block or K-brace.
Does this kit require a separate tune?
The kit includes the HP Tuner RTD flash tool along with Whipple’s bespoke calibration, giving you the tools to manage tuning directly. Professional installation and calibration is strongly recommended for the best and safest results.
Can I upgrade the belt system later?
Yes. The kit comes with a proven 6-rib belt system as standard, with an optional 10-rib belt system and matching billet pulleys available as an upgrade.
What colour finishes are available for the supercharger?
Wrinkle black, polished, Ford textured blue, or a custom colour on request.
