Developed by Whipple Superchargers in direct partnership with Ford Performance Engineering, this isn’t an aftermarket bolt-on — it’s a system built to Ford Motor Company’s own standards, validated on the same test rigs as production vehicles.

What’s included
The kit centres on a Gen 6 3.0L Whipple supercharger, featuring Whipple’s patented inverted twin-screw design — one of the most thermally efficient positive displacement supercharger configurations available. Unlike centrifugal systems that deliver boost progressively, the twin-screw builds boost almost immediately off idle, giving the Dark Horse that instant torque response the platform is built around.

MAP calibration — built for UK fuel
The calibration included with this kit is developed exclusively by Motorsport and Performance for right-hand-drive, UK and EU specification vehicles. Standard Ford Performance calibrations are written around North American fuel grades, which don’t directly translate to the 98-octane premium unleaded available at UK forecourts. The MAP calibration is optimised specifically for the fuel you’ll actually be using — which is why we’re confident quoting the 770 hp / 615 lb-ft figures for UK-delivered cars. These are not theoretical US numbers.
98-octane fuel (Super Unleaded or equivalent) is required. We strongly recommend sticking to this grade consistently — the calibration is written around it.
Warranty cover
Unlike most aftermarket supercharger installations, this kit comes with an exclusive 3-year / 36,000-mile powertrain warranty backed by Ford Performance — available only through authorised MAP installers. This covers the powertrain components affected by the supercharger installation, giving you peace of mind that simply isn’t available with third-party kits. This warranty is only valid when the kit is installed by Motorsport and Performance.
Fitment note
The factory strut tower brace fitted to Dark Horse models is not compatible with the Ford Performance supercharger kit and must be removed prior to installation. Our team will advise on this as part of the fitment process.

No — this is a key advantage of the Ford Performance kit over third-party alternatives. Because it’s an official Ford Performance Parts product, it comes with its own 3-year / 36,000-mile powertrain warranty backed by Ford Performance when installed by Motorsport and Performance. This replaces rather than voids the relevant powertrain cover. We recommend discussing your specific circumstances with us before purchase if you have an existing warranty query.
How does this kit compare to the standalone Whipple S650 supercharger?
Both use Whipple supercharger technology, but the Ford Performance kit is a co-developed, factory-validated package that comes with the exclusive MAP powertrain warranty — something the standalone Whipple kit does not offer. The Ford Performance kit has also been engineered and tested to Ford Motor Company standards, meaning the integration with the Dark Horse’s engine management is more thoroughly validated out of the box. The standalone Whipple kit is a strong product, but the warranty cover and factory engineering pedigree of the FPP kit make it the preferred choice for most of our customers.
What fuel do I need to run this kit?
98-octane fuel is required — this is Super Unleaded in the UK, available at most major fuel stations and all premium forecourts. The MAP calibration included with the kit is specifically tuned for 98-octane UK fuel. Running lower-octane fuel risks detonation and could cause engine damage not covered under warranty, so we strongly advise against it.
How long does installation take?
Installation typically takes a full day at our Batley workshop. We’ll confirm the exact booking duration when you enquire, as it can vary depending on whether additional supporting modifications are being carried out at the same time — such as exhaust, intake, or cooling upgrades. We’d recommend budgeting a day to leave the car with us.
Can I fit this kit myself?
The kit can be purchased for supply only if you intend to have it installed elsewhere. However, the exclusive 3-year / 36,000-mile powertrain warranty is only valid when the kit is installed by Motorsport and Performance. If the warranty cover is important to you — and for a kit at this price point it almost certainly should be — we’d strongly recommend having us fit it.
Is this kit compatible with other modifications on my Dark Horse?
Most common supporting modifications — including aftermarket exhausts, cold air intakes, and upgraded intercooler systems — are compatible. The one key incompatibility to be aware of is the factory strut tower brace fitted to Dark Horse models, which must be removed as it conflicts with the supercharger installation. If you have other modifications already fitted, mention them when you enquire and our team will advise on compatibility.
