2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5 vs. Mustang GTD: More Power for Half the Price?
The Apex of Performance: Introducing the 870HP 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5.
The Mustang world has a new king, and it didn’t come from a factory assembly line. It came from the “mad scientists” at RTR Vehicles.
At Motorsport and Performance, we are thrilled to showcase the absolute pinnacle of the S650 generation: the 2026 Mustang RTR Spec 5. This isn’t just a Mustang with a body kit; it is a fully engineered, 870-horsepower weapon designed for the street, the track, and everywhere in between.
More Power Than a GTD?
You read that right. While the ultra-exclusive Ford Mustang GTD makes 815 horsepower, the RTR Spec 5 pushes boundaries further. By pairing the 5.0L Coyote V8 with a 3.0L Stage 2 Whipple Supercharger System, the Spec 5 delivers a staggering 870+ HP and 660 lb-ft of torque.
Whether you choose the 10-speed automatic or the purist-favourite 6-speed manual, the power delivery is relentless.

A Widebody Without Compromise
Historically, “widebody” often meant bolt-on flares. For 2026, RTR has redefined the aesthetic. The Spec 5 features a fully integrated composite widebody system that flows seamlessly into the S650’s natural lines.
-
Carbon Fibre Everywhere: From the chin splitter to the rear quarter splitters and the unique “wake tower” assemblies, the Spec 5 uses exposed carbon fibre to reduce weight and increase aggression.
-
Functional Aero: This isn’t just for looks. Integrated tyre-cooling vents and sculpted rocker panels ensure the car remains planted and cool even at 870hp.

Tactical Performance: Control the Chaos
Power is nothing without control. RTR equipped the Spec 5 with its Tactical Performance Suspension, featuring 30-way-adjustable coilovers and sway bars. This allows you to dial in the car for a comfortable cruise to Cars & Coffee or a stiff, responsive setup for a track day. And for those who like to get sideways? The Spec 5 comes standard with the Electronic Drift Brake, co-developed by Vaughn Gittin Jr. himself. It’s the ultimate tool for initiating smoky, controlled slides at the touch of a lever.

Exclusivity is Standard
RTR is only producing 50 units per year worldwide. Each car is a serialised piece of automotive history, complete with a dash plaque engraved with Vaughn Gittin Jr.’s signature and a Certificate of Authenticity.
